Aniplex has officially announced a TV anime adaptation of Kokamumo's comedy manga Null Meta, also known as Nurumeta. The series is scheduled to begin its broadcast run in 2027.
The announcement arrived on October 18, 2026, following a cryptic teaser campaign by Aniplex that featured the letters "NLMT." This adaptation brings the long-running Manga Time Kirara Max title to the screen, joining a lineage of surreal slice-of-life comedies from the same publication. The production involves several high-profile industry veterans, signaling a significant treatment for the 4-koma source material.
What We Know
According to the official website launched on October 18, Studio Soigne is handling the animation production. The studio is previously known for its work on mono and Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk. Kai Ikarashi will serve as the series director, marking his first time leading a full series after his work on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
The creative staff also includes Tatsuya Takahashi, who is handling series composition and scripts. Takahashi's previous credits include Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon and The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. Character designs are being provided by Shin Ogasawara, known for Pokemon: Twilight Wings.
Crunchyroll reported that the original manga, which began serialization in March 2020, currently has six compiled volumes as of January 2026. The story centers on a dim-witted android named Kurumi and her eccentric high school friends as they discuss trivialities and tinker with Kurumi's robotic body. Anime News Network confirmed that the production is being overseen by Aniplex, who handled the initial teaser visual and website launch.
Why It Matters
Null Meta follows the established trend of adapting "cute girls doing cute things" (CGDCT) manga from Manga Time Kirara Max, but it distinguishes itself with a surreal, science-fiction-adjacent premise. The involvement of Kai Ikarashi is a point of interest for industry watchers, as it transitions a high-profile animator known for intense action into a comedic, character-driven format.
Where to Watch
International streaming platforms have not been officially confirmed for the 2027 release. While Aniplex titles frequently appear on Crunchyroll, no licensing agreements have been announced as of October 20, 2026.
What Happens Next
The Null Meta anime is confirmed for a 2027 broadcast window. No specific season, such as Winter or Spring, has been assigned to the premiere. Voice cast members and a full-length trailer are also currently unannounced as of October 20, 2026. Future updates are expected to be released via the official website at nlmt-anime.com.
