Classroom of the Elite 5th Season has officially moved into its next phase of production with the release of a new teaser visual. The announcement, shared via the series' official website and social media on October 20, 2026, follows the immediate confirmation of the sequel earlier this summer after the fourth season's finale.
The new season continues the adaptation of the popular light novel series by author Shogo Kinugasa and illustrator Tomoseshunsaku. While the production was first greenlit on June 24, 2026, this latest update provides the first stylistic glimpse into the aesthetic direction for the upcoming episodes.
What We Know
The "Ultra Teaser Visual" depicts an ominously demolished classroom, accompanied by the tagline "Make a choice you won't regret." Studio Lerche is confirmed to return for the production, maintaining the consistency of the long-running adaptation.
The fifth season is expected to adapt the "Second Year, Second Semester" arc of the light novels, published under Kadokawa's MF Bunko J imprint. The main cast for the series includes Shoya Chiba as Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, Akari Kito as Suzune Horikita, Ayana Taketatsu as Kei Karuizawa, Yurika Kubo as Kikyo Kushida, Masaaki Mizunaka as Kakeru Ryuen, Nao Toyama as Honami Ichinose, and Rina Hidaka as Arisu Sakayanagi.
Staff for the fifth season has not been fully detailed, but the previous 16-episode season was directed by Noriyuki Nomata with series composition by Yasushi Shigenobu. The franchise has seen an accelerated production schedule to keep pace with the massive popularity of the light novels, particularly the current "Year 2" saga.
Why It Matters
The announcement of Classroom of the Elite Season 5 comes at a time of peak momentum for the franchise. Season 4, which covered the "Second Year, First Semester" arc, aired from April 1, 2026, to June 24, 2026, and the immediate greenlighting of a sequel indicates a commitment to adapting the entire high school narrative. The "Second Year, Second Semester" arc is highly anticipated by readers for its psychological battles and the continued fallout of the island exams.
